Pamukkale Tours from Istanbul

Pamukkale from Istanbul: flight, bus or package

There is no short drive from Istanbul to Pamukkale. The practical options are a flight to Denizli, a long intercity bus, or a tour that bundles flights and the visit. A day tour with flights costs from $380, and a two-day package with one hotel night and a sunrise balloon flight costs from €445.

Denizli Çardak airport (DNZ) is the airport for Pamukkale. It is not at the terraces, and the transfer from it takes about an hour. A flight day and a bus day are not equal alternatives, because the total time includes airport trips, check-in, transfers and the visit itself, not only the flight.

Our picks: Pamukkale from Istanbul

Our take: the Pamukkale day includes the entry, so the price is closer to final. The Ephesus combo adds a second site but leaves both entries to you.

For most visitors with only one or two days, the two-day package or your own flight with one night in Pamukkale is the realistic choice. The day tour with flights suits people who cannot stay overnight and accept a very early start. The bus fits travellers who are happy to sleep on the road and spend the next day in Pamukkale.

What to know before you book from Istanbul

The details that change the plan.

Two Istanbul airports

Turkish Airlines flies from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Denizli, and AJet flies from Sabiha Gökçen (SAW). The two airports are not interchangeable, so check the departure airport on your ticket and plan the trip to it.

From the airport to Pamukkale

The road distance from Çardak airport to Pamukkale is about 70 km, with about an hour of driving. The municipal airport service Hava Ulaşım runs on this route, and private shared shuttles cost around €30 one way per person. Check the current timetable before you go.

The day tour with flights

It includes return flights, airport and hotel transfers and a guided visit, and the pool is optional. Ask for the child price with the offer, and check the exact flight times before you pay.

The two-day package

It includes one hotel night with breakfast, flights, transfers, a guide, entrance to the site and a sunrise balloon flight. Swimming in the Antique Pool is extra. If the balloon is cancelled because of weather, the balloon fee is refunded, but not the whole package. Flight and pickup times can change. More on the flight itself is on the hot air balloon page.

Entrance and the pool

Foreign adults pay €30 for the terraces and Hierapolis together in 2026, and the pool is a separate ticket. See tickets and Cleopatra's Pool before you decide what to add.

Combine Pamukkale with Ephesus

Two stops from one trip.

Many visitors from Istanbul want to see Pamukkale and Ephesus on one trip. The two sites are in different provinces, so a combined trip takes more days or a very long day. Read about the route in Ephesus and Pamukkale together, and for the Ephesus end of the trip see Ephesus from Istanbul.

Pamukkale from Istanbul: frequently asked questions

Can I visit Pamukkale from Istanbul in one day?

How long is the flight from Istanbul to Denizli?

The flight from Istanbul Airport takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. The airport is Denizli Çardak, about 70 km from the terraces.

Is the bus a realistic option?

The intercity bus from Istanbul's European side takes from 10 hours 15 minutes, and night trips exist. It works as an overnight transfer, not as a day trip, and you still need to get from Denizli to Pamukkale afterwards.

Is the sunrise balloon part of the two-day package?

The package from €445 includes a sunrise balloon flight. The balloon fee is refunded if the flight is cancelled because of weather, but the rest of the package is not refunded automatically.
